Hugo Fragrances has recently announced the launch of its partnership with French environmental organization Pur Project for their new "One Fragrance, One Tree" campaign. For every bottle of Hugo Element and Hugo Man made (there are 400,000 special edition bottles of the two fragrances), Hugo has planted a tree in the Amazonian rainforest. The project covers an area of about 800 hectares and, you guessed it, has resulted in 400,000 new trees. It's a pretty straightforward Cause Marketing Campaign, a "get one, give one, everybody wins" model that will make consumers feel good about their purchase, boost Hugo's CSR image, and help mitigate climate change caused by deforestation and rising CO2 emissions.

There's one more element, however, that makes the whole initiative a bit more novel, and engaging, for consumers. On each Hugo Element and Hugo Man bottle is scratch off label with a unique code, which consumers can then enter on the "One Fragrance, One Tree" website. Via a google maps or google earth application, consumers can identify the exact tree planted as a result of their purchase. Talk about seeing your "direct impact"...
