Short Organization Description:
Bumi Sehat runs two non-profit maternal & community health centers in Indonesia. We provide 17,000 health consultations for children & adults and welcome 600 new babies into the world each year. We are achieving a higher standard of maternal & child health through culturally sensitive prenatal, postpartum & birth services & breast feeding support. We offer natural family planning, hygiene & nutrition programs, educational projects, environmental sustainability & HIV/AIDS awareness.

Our mission is to reduce maternal and child morbidity and mortality and to support the health and wise development of communities. Toward this goal, we provide general health services, emergency care, prenatal, postpartum, birth services and breastfeeding support, in addition to education and environmental programs. We maintain a Youth Centre, where unemployed youth are trained in computer, English and permaculture skills.

The success of the world’s greatest to-do list

Every morning, I begin my day by writing a to-do list in my diary. I can’t remember when I started this habit, but I’m certain my productivity has increased exponentially as a result.
I write down irksome duties that nevertheless must get done; I break down complex tasks into several simpler ones — and, whoa, what looked like an impossible mountain to climb suddenly appears as a series of manageable mole hills. Every time I complete a task, I put a check next to that item on the list.

Vitamin Angels Goes to El Salvador - Day 1

September 13, 2011 This morning we were greeted not just by our wonderful in country partners, but by a big box of prenatal multivitamins (thank you Andrew Lessman and ProCaps!) in the back of their van that were coming along with us to the villages. I couldn’t help but smile. It’s always heartening to know that our vitamins have made it to the far reaches of the world.
