LinkedIn’s recent announcements to allow users the option to
add volunteer service to their profiles and to provide expanded resources for
nonprofits have generated a lot of buzz. By now many have read any of a number
of articles, including
one on our site, about these new features. But what does this really mean
for nonprofit organizations and their missions?

LinkedIn is launching a new set of tools aimed at nonprofits. Earlier
this year, the company launched LinkedIn Nonprofit Solutions under the
LinkedIn for Good brand.

Will Google’s new social networking site Google+ bomb like Buzz and Wave? Or solidify Google’s bid to take over the solar system? If you’re already on Google for email, directions, calendar and search, why not come full circle and add social networking? I will say, there are some interesting differences here. While facebook may destroy your social life by spreading you so thin you start the mistake acquaintances for friends and friends for a quota… Google+ encourages small circles of friends and close community.
